We have two large play yards which we rotate dogs in and out.  We use one for the social dogs and the other for the dogs that like to be more independent.  We don't time the dogs we tend to let the dogs tell us when they want to go back inside.  We will engage with play, our goal is to get plenty of fresh air, plenty of exercise to the point at bed time they are nice and tired, if they sleep well, they eat well and that goal has served us well over 16 years!

We strongly recommend an overnight stay before a longer stay, especially if your dog has separation anxiety.  Many dogs do not have any problems jumping right into a longer stay. You know your dog the best and a kennel visit to see how the kennel works and is laid out will help make that decision.  The last situation we want is an unhappy dog.  An over night stay provides a few things, a chance for us to get to know your dog, a chance for your dog to know us, gives your dog a sense of how the kennel day is done and will relieve some stress.

We handle the dogs quite frequently, we have play yards not individual runs so we are able to play with them and if social they play with others. If your dog does not do well with new people it might not be a good fit.   We will put in time and take it slow with shy dogs or stressed dogs, but if there is a history of biting...not a good fit.

If your dog is in the senior years, but is over all healthy, recommend at least an over night before a long stay.

If your dog is elderly and is not healthy and have multiple issues I don't recommend a kennel, the stress of not being home can cause health issues to flare up and their immune system to lower.
